About HoneyHive
At HoneyHive, we are building the new DevOps stack for AI agents. Our product is used by leading AI startups and Fortune 100 enterprises to build, test, debug, and monitor AI agents with integrated observability, testing, and experimentation tools. AI engineers use our platform debug AI agents, evaluate quality, troubleshoot LLM failures in production, and a whole lot more.
We’ve raised $7.4M Seed from Insight Partners, Zero Prime Ventures, AIX Ventures, and leading founders/CEOs. Our founding team includes AI, data, and systems experts who’ve shipped petabyte-scale systems at Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan, and more.
About the role
As a Member of Technical Staff focused on SDKs at HoneyHive, you'll own the critical infrastructure that AI engineers at leading companies use to instrument, trace, and evaluate their AI applications. You'll be the technical expert responsible for our end-to-end tracing and evaluation SDKs built on OpenTelemetry (OTEL).
We're a small team, which means you'll have tremendous impact and ownership. You'll work directly with our founders and customers, and have the freedom to explore your own ideas while building developer tools that thousands of AI engineers depend on.
In this role, you will
Own our SDK ecosystem – Design, build, and maintain our Python and TypeScript SDKs for end-to-end tracing and evaluations, focusing on performance, reliability, and exceptional developer experience
Drive OTEL integration – Lead the technical implementation of OpenTelemetry instrumentation across our SDK stack, ensuring seamless observability for AI applications
Build integrations – Ship new integrations with leading agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, etc.), vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma), and model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
Shape technical architecture – Make key architectural decisions for SDK design, data collection patterns, and telemetry infrastructure as we scale
Work directly with customers – Collaborate with AI engineers at high-growth companies to understand their instrumentation needs and translate them into robust SDK features
Establish best practices – Define SDK development standards, testing frameworks, and documentation practices that will scale with our growing developer community
Represent HoneyHive externally – Engage with the broader developer community at conferences, hackathons, and through technical content
Our stack
We use React, Express, and NextJS for web development, AWS for all our cloud needs, and are building SDKs in Typescript and Python using OpenTelemetry (OTEL).
About you
We think you'd be a great fit if you have:
5+ years of backend/systems engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping production systems at scale
Deep SDK/library development expertise – Experience building developer tools, SDKs, or libraries that external teams depend on
Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript/Node.js for building robust, well-tested SDKs
Observability systems experience – Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, metrics collection, or APM systems
Systems thinking – You understand how to build scalable, maintainable developer tools and can make thoughtful technical tradeoffs
API design expertise – Experience designing clean, intuitive APIs that developers love to use
What sets great candidates apart:
Previous experience building developer infrastructure – SDKs, monitoring tools, observability platforms, or developer-facing APIs
AI/ML engineering background – Familiarity with LLM applications, prompt engineering, RAG, evaluations, or AI observability
Open source contributions – Experience maintaining or contributing to popular open source libraries or tools
Early-stage startup experience – You've built products from 0 to 1 in fast-paced environments
Why join
You'll be an early employee at a well-funded startup in one of tech's hottest spaces.
Your SDKs will be used by thousands of AI engineers at cutting-edge companies daily.
You'll learn the ins and outs of startup building – perfect if you want to build your own company someday.
You'll have direct access to founders and the freedom to explore your own ideas.
